BONUS POINTS!!!
Ok, here's one more reason to check the website frequently. Throughout the week's leading up to Talent Show, we will give teams the opportunity to earn bonus points by performing certain tasks. They will be randomly posted up on the Fun Co. site, so be on the lookout.
Bonus #1
Make a poster to publicize TS tryouts and hang it up somewhere at UCSD! (Each poster will be worth 25 points).
**Please ask questions before you hang up a poster, especially if you are unfamiliar with the UCSD posting policies (If you just said "Huh?" after reading that, that means ask Dave or another APSA officer what the posting policies are PLEASE =P) Maximum of 2posters/person. Report to Dave or David where your poster is and we'll award your team the points once we confirm.
eg. Ian (Obsrynguy83) says the poster should say something like this:
Obsrvnguy83: do you have talent? come tryout for APSA's 7th annual talent show
Obsrvnguy83: tryouts: Feb 16 anytime between 800a-500p and Feb 24 anytime between 800a-500p @ PC Cove
-Tryouts for this year's APSA Talent Show are Feb. 16 and 24, 8p to 5p at the PC Cove. Email apsa@ucsd.edu with any questions. (Even if you're not gonna make a poster and just reading this site for fun, SPREAD THE WORD! Tell all your talented friends! Thanks =))

Penny Wars!
The game is based on a point system. The point breakdown is as follows.
A PENNY is worth ONE point
Anything silver is worth NEGATIVE points
A NICKEL is worth NEGATIVE 5 points
A DIME is worth NEGATIVE 10 points
A QUARTER is worth NEGATIVE 25points
Please DO NOT put half dollar silver coins. Thank you.
Each team has their own Tupperware where these coins can be deposited. Anyone, and that means you, can add coins to any Tupperware of your choice. If you want your own team, or the team you wish to support, to gain a point, deposit a penny in your Tupperware. If you want to give negative points to the opposing team, place any silver coin into their Tupperware. The team with the most points at the end of game is the winning team. Game ends March 7, 2002. Void where prohibited. =)

This week's game is called: "Family Portraits." We started on 1.31.02 and the game will conclude on 2.7.02.
The object of the game is to visit various locations with your fellow Fun Co. members and take pictures with them to earn points. This game will hopefully encourage you to spend time with each other, especially people you might not know as well yet. Each team was given a disposable camera to take pictures with and each camera MUST be returned to the Fun Co. MC's by this Thursdays Talent Show meeting at the latest. The cameras will then be developed and judged for points. The team whose roll of film has the most points is the winner of Family Portraits.
Fun Co. MC's David Reyes and Dave Beza will be judging the pictures and awarding them points. The way a picture earns points is by having a certain number of Fun Co. players in the photo. There must be a minimum of TWO Fun Co. members in a photo in order for it to be eligible for points. After that, points will be awarded to a photo as follows:
-2 members who are each on different teams = 3 points
-2 members of the same team = 5 points
-each additional person in the photo on the same team = 5 points per team member
-each additional person in the photo from another Fun Co. team = 1 point per Fun Co. member
*(I know the rules have changed slightly since I announced them on Thurs., but it's just easier to explain this way. That's why it's important to check the website)
Note that you can also earn points by taking pictures with other Fun Co. members that are not on your team.
Okay, so here's a list of places you can go to take pictures with everyone based on where they said they would be throughout the week:
-Marshall Res. Hall, P-building lounge
-Roberto's taco shop
-Talent Show emcee tryouts
-Super Bowl party (I suppose anyone's party will do)
-the beach
-Family Fun Center ($10 Tuesday)
-Ralph's
-Camp Pendelton (ask Josh Heitzman)
-Children's Hospital (also ask Josh Heitman)
-RIMAC
-someplace to get boba
-CLICs
-Geisel Library

-Thurgood Marshall Activities Center (TMAC)
-UTC (or any other mall/shopping center)
-Dance Routine Practice this Tuesday
-anywhere to make posters for Talent Show publicity (eg. 3rd floor Price Center, SOLO office)
-Main Gym
-the movies
(eg. "The Debut" which opened at Mira Mesa Edwards and AMC Mission Valley this past Friday
or "Bamboozled" playing at PC Theatre, Tues. 2.5.02 at 7pm)
-APSA office
-SAAC lounge
-Jasmine's apt.(?)...don't know about that one =P
-Regents parking lot?...ask Ian
-Preuss School

Ok, so as of the last APSA meeting this past Tuesday, we have officially opened Fun Committee to the public. For those of you who don't know, here's some background:
Fun Committee was started last year as an alias for APSA's infamous Dance Routine Committee. Last year's Dance Co. Chairs, Reggie Saldivar and Dave Beza, the geniuses they are, decided that in addition to providing APSA with a challenging and awe-inspring dance routine, they would also take the necessary measures to make sure all of their fellow High School Conference committee chairs were having just as much fun as they were. And thus, Fun Committee was born. Participants in last year's Fun Committee trials and tribulations took part in various games that would hopefully foster goodwill, teamwork, and overall merriment. We played games like "Who's Down?" and Team Assassins that would either bind us all together in the long-lasting spirit of friendship or lead to the eventual lynching of Reggie and Dave by the committee heads gone insane. Luckily for Reggie and Dave, the former occurred and many participants expressed how much fun they had in addition to their responsibilities as committee chairs and how they got to know everyone involved a little bit better.
Fun Committee came back again for the Spring Quarter to wreak havoc on APSA Grad. Banquet Committee chairs, playing games such as the the "Every-Day-is-Easter Egg Hunt." After grad. banquet had concluded, prizes were awarded for valiant efforts by Fun Committee players from both Winter and Spring quarter, receiving prizes such as Super Soaker water guns and passes to Disneyland and Magic Mountain.
Alas, even with momentum in it's favor, Fun Co went on hiatus this past Fall Quarter as Reggie was bitten by a were-nerd and subsequently spends hours howling in CLICs as he studies for MCATs (good luck ichiban-san) and Dave became prez of some lame organization =P and became so busy trying to organize his motley crew of board members (jk) that he found himself with little time and energy to further the advancement of Fun Co for another quarter (either that or he was just lazy).
In any case, with new resolve, Dave Beza returns from the depths of obscurity to pass the Fun Co torch on to his protege, 1st year David Reyes. Together, they hope to usher in a new generation of Fun Co prosperity...
which brings us to the present. Now that you're here, if you haven't already been put into a Penny Wars team and are interested in joining the fun, please email Ian, one of our Talent Show co-chairs, to have him organize you into a team. EVERYONE is welcome to play, not just Talent Show Committee chairpeople.
Like it says in one of the previous blogs, please check this site out for updates on rules and bonus games for Fun Co. For those of you who do not know what Penny Wars is, Ian will hopefully have a game description up shortly.
Directions for how to participate in Penny Wars will also be posted in the office very soon. Speaking of which, to all the existing teams, please leave your jars (aka make-shift, Gladware, piggy banks) in the APSA office so that they can collect donations instead of dust in your rooms.
Gotta go to class. IM me at DJ All G00d or email Allg00d220@aol.com with any questions. Peace.

Congratulations to The Sheisters and to The Penny Pinchers. These teams get 25 pennies each for their success in the first Fun Committee Event. You'll be getting that tomorrow at the GBM! Also, a reminder for everyone: Don't forget to bring you SEALED tupperware for the official start of PENNY WARS! We'll have a new mini-game for you at the committee meeting on Thursday, 730p at the CCC. Be there or be square. Good luck to you all and start collecting those pennies! Peace.
